Lost in Translation

Anthony is a big fan of Star Trek and bought the entire series of "Star Trek: Voyager" on DVDs. While hanging out one time, I was perusing the set and started reading the summary on the back of one of the seasons. I am about to give you what is actually printed on the back of these verbatim.

It should be said that he bought Chinese copies re-translated into English. On a completely unrelated note, did you know that the Bible has been translated and edited more than any other book in history?

"Star Trek: Voyager

The Run-Down!

Ok so!!!

The trip home was great. Lots of fun by all and was so GROOD to see people. Of course, being in "vacation mode" wreaked havoc on my wallet but that's what all this work is for! Next trip out will be a brief one in August for Aaron and Diana's wedding.

So I have some miscellany for you today:

"Sending the Mail"
Mom and Pop Thomas were good enough to get me a Canada Post "piggy bank" before coming out here. I have been putting all of my change into it every day and about once a month I pull it out, roll it up, and replace it with bills. It was a veritable bonanza this time around!! I turned a lot of coins into $145 worth of bills!! Amazing!!! It's like free money.

"The Day I Got Back"
The day after Bonnie and I arrived back in town, before I even unpacked, I was up on the ski hill. You see April 20th was a big time powder day!! We were in it up to our knees all day and the hill was empty. Most of the runs we didn't even see another person. Man what a welcome!! Was good to get back out there. Norquay is already closed (and melting noticeably more each day), Lake Louise closes on May 2nd or 3rd (but isn't really worth skiing anymore anyway. It's mostly a big......lake....at this point if you'll excuse the pun).

But Sunshine isn't scheduled to close until May 23!! Huzzah!! It's 10 or 15 degrees in town and sunny and still ski worthy up there. What a place this is.

Speaking of warmer weather, I haven't worn a jacket the last few days either, which is a shame because it's my Red Wings jacket and as soon as they beat the Flames it got warm out here, making wearing it unnecessary. Doing a lot of strolling and other fun outdoorsy stuff.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The State of the Town"
So this town is very under construction. The entire main street is torn up through downtown and rapidly coming closer to being 100% closed to driving. For now, the sidewalks are fenced off and they're working on it all day every day. Estimated time of completion? September.
Yep, an entire summer of a torn up mainstreet. It just isn't nice to walk on.

They also have construction crossing guards that are getting paid $18 to hold "Stop/Slow" signs for pedestrian walkways through the construction. Best job ever. Biggest waste of money ever.

Hear that everybody? You can come out for the summer, be outside all day, and get paid $18/hour to stand there. Best deal ever.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The Internet Cafe"
There was a pigeon in here sitting on somebody's computer when I came in today. ON trying to get it out, it flew around, stirred up a helluva lot of dust, and proceeded to land on some other unsuspecting chap's computer. What fun!!

Balancing 2 jobs has proven to be easier than I thought it would be. And it's nice to be constantly changing what I'm doing. And it's nice to get more money. SPeaking of money, the best part of this whole setup is that each job pays on different weeks so I get paid every week. How about that!

I feel like I had more to say. Hrm...well i'll update again if I remember. Until then... Cheerio!

Coming Home!

So I'm currently at my new job at the internet cafe that I spent so much money and time at when I first came out here. It's great!! I make as much hourly as I've been making at Tony Roma's, work more hours, and basically just relax at work. Sure, occasionally I have to do something but for the most part i'm left to do my own thing provided the needs of the business are taken care of.

As you can see, I can update my blog from work.

I'm also allowed to play World of Warcraft!! Huzzah!!

I'm also maintaining my job, with different responsibilities and fewer shifts at Tony Roma's.

In any case, the big news is, of course, that I'm coming home to visit on Monday! Huzzah!! Bonnie and i are definitely looking forward to seeing everybody and getting back over there.

See you all soon!
