Shake-ups!

Well a lot of things have been changing out here. Bonnie has closed up her project in Canmore and is now living in Calgary with her parents training to do a new job. She is working on getting 2 consistent days off that are NOT saturday and sunday - hopefully that works out.

More couldn't be different at Tony Roma's. For starters, I've picked up a 2nd job at the internet cafe that I frequented so many times when I first arrived here and I'm, at least temporarily, easing off my job at TRs. No details because they aren't completely finalized yet.

Spring is in the air out here, as it's been above freezing for probably about 2 weeks now. Of course, it's still snowing on the hill which is all that matters. I haven't made it out very much in those 2 weeks though - there's been some incredibly crappy weather up there and I've been working a great deal of day shifts. Alas and alack.

The one time I did make it out, i also definitely ran in to a tree. Pic of the war wound to come very shortly - it's very impressive!! I'm glad my girlfriend is in Calgary because I don't think she'd think I've improved my looks. I think I look tough.

Before my mother faints (any of you mom's out there), I want to say that:

NO doctor's
NO stiches
NO broken bones

It's impressive, but not that bad :p

Also you can all look forward to a ski video i'm making!! hehehe. going to be RoXXoRRing good.

Finally, I've bumped my flight home forward acouple days and my trip will now be April 9 - April 19. Looking forward to seeing you all.

I'm liking this video thing!

I decided to take some pictures of my place today, and then had a better idea. So I dragged out the video camera and took this video of my place and street and what not. It was a beautiful day! Bonnie and I took a walk in some forestland without hats on! Sunny and generally spring-like. Now time for more snow for more skiing. Need more snow :p

Wow! videos!

Went skiing up to Lake Louise yesterday for a pretty full day on the hill. I've become quite a convert to the merits of Lake Louise. It's a much longer, more varied, and challenging hill than Sunshine - definitely top notch!

Before the pics and videos, some Canadiana for you:

Pretty funny lunch yesterday. We went to their ski hill outdoor BBQ. Yea. They had grills and umbrellas and condiment stands and everything else set up, and we ate outside on picnic tables with a bunch of other people all sitting there in the -10 degree weather without hats and gloves on. Nobody seemed cold. Canadians :p

Anyway the snow conditions were pretty hard-packed yesterday, so Tracy and I took to racing down a long, groomed run. When we discovered that we could get air off a couple of steep transitions on the hill, we decided to video it. Unfortunately, I went off something a little higher than expected. Best part: guy standing up with Tracy going "THAT WAS AWESOME!!!"

We got a little hungry for powder towards the end of the day, so we went into the backcountry in an area called the West Bowl. My picture site is currently down, so I can't post the clever picture, but backcountry is an area of the ski hill easily accessible from the lifts, but not in the ski area boundary. So it's not patrolled or avalanche controlled or anything. They're generally great spots because not many people know about them - you just have to be more careful. Anyway, here's a swell video of me coming down the top of the "run".

Enjoy! Pics as soon as my storage site comes back up.
